Cy Townsend
"Living Loudly"

By Pacific Taylor

When you're a "Stud" and your physical appearance defines your sexual preference, you fall victim to many stares, judgements, intrigue and often time’s attraction. And if that "Stud" happens to be Cy Townsend, 31, Co-founder of Chicagostuds.Com, star of the new documentary and television series "Stud Life" and future restaurant and nightclub owner in Chicago, looking like a "Stud" which is defined as the butch-lesbian, to her is "All Good."

"I have people who want to put a dress on me, lipstick and I have some people who feel they need to pray for me and make it their life long goal to somehow change me or convert me. I appreciate the prayers, because we all need them, but I am comfortable with who I am. There are no outward appearances for those who are adulterers, murderers, or child molesters; they look normal, or whatever is normality in our culture. But me, on the other hand I look like a gay female, a "Stud" for a better word, but I am happy being me I'm “living loudly” and loving it. I have a close relationship with my parents, who have been married for 28 years. I am a friend to my brother who is 25 and I take care of my two nephews. I was not neglected as child, beat or abandoned. I had a great childhood.

My Parents love me, unconditionally, and with that I can sleep very well at night. As far as questions about Christianity and religion, I believe in God and my personal relationship is awesome. I know what the bible says about Gays and I also know that I will be judged by God when my time comes and with all of the good that I have done in my life, and all of the work I still must do, my life’s work will speak for me after I’m gone! Your sexuality should not be the defining factor of your biographical sketch, however an aspect of your sexual preference."

On relationships: "I have always been in long term relationships. I have had three in the least fifteen years. My last one was very tumultuous. I was the victim of physical abuse. I was with a woman who did not value a mate who was faithful,a provider and a supporter. She is still victimizing me, she knows what she lost and she cannot seem to let it go. But it's all a part of life and love and it's like any other relationship, it can be great or it can be volatile. I am happy now and very stable in my life. At present my focus is on my work and when that right person comes along I will know it!”

"It's not as though each day of my life is focused on being a gay woman. I am a business woman and probably have more responsibilities than the average heterosexual person," Cy adds as she sits in her plush home office in the south suburbs of Chicago.

Chicago Studs.com was founded as a resource for the Lesbian and Stud community. It's goal will be to entertain, enlighten and provide a resource for studs and stud supporters to appreciate and embrace the contributions of the innovators, leaders, and celebrities in the Chicago Stud, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. "Our goal is to succeed in this market by developing a trend of unity that will ultimately reach all studs globally," Cy adds. The most important aspect of the site is that it will provide outreach programs and resources for the youth.

"We hope to promote and sponsor events that will primarily focus on the lesbian and stud community. With Parties, live shows, charitable sporting events, such as a softball league, celebrity basketball games, bowling tournaments, female athletic scholarship funds, outreach programs, documentaries and our series “Stud Life” and many more. It will brand our name and also unify our efforts and work as a powerful networking environment for this community."

Chicago Studs.com was the brainchild of Chicago “Stud” Entertainer, Cy Townsend, 31 and her best friend and primary investor Allison. After examining the potential for a market place with ChicagoStuds.com in both cyberspace and the publication and entertainment production industries, the Co-founders knew that Chicagostuds.com would be a powerful addition to the many successes of the gay community.

Chicagostuds.com is the premiere website that will focus on this subculture of the lesbian community. Since Cy’s appearance on the hit show “Oh Drama” on BET, the phone lines have been ringing and e-mails are endless. “I am humbled that I have received so many positive responses from people all over the world that get what I am doing and appreciate it. I anticipate the launch of the site, as well as all of the great events we are working on” Cy adds.

Studs are the dominant force in a relationship and often times, the visible representation of the lesbian community. As a website and a Bi-monthly magazine, ChicagoStuds.com intentions are to represent the viability of this culture, which exist in the Gay world, and as a sub-culture in the lesbian community.

Chicagostuds.Com’s goals: to unify the Stud community, enhance the nightlife, enhance the entertainment environment, and give an opportunity for all to feel comfortable in their environment and lifestyle.

Cy is determined and focused. Cy says, "As a community, we know that we have the power to change and influence. On April 30, the National Alliance for Gays and Lesbians held a march on Washington. The parade brought together over 800, 000 of the “Family” members from around the world. The premise: to educate, empower, and generate awareness for a variety of causes in the community. Publications like Planet Out, The Advocate, Curve and many others were present. Chicagostuds.com will be present at next year’s March and will hopefully have representation from our Globalstuds.com members."

Please look for this organization to make some incredible landmarks in Chicago and other states. It has aligned itself with some very reputable gay and lesbian groups, as well as not-for-profit agencies to support. Cy Townsend and her business partner are very anxious with the release of their documentary and television series as well as a new restaurant and bar to open in the summer of 2001. Please tune into Cy when she will be on Lesbigay radio on December 13, 2000 at 6:00pm. In addition, watch for her future appearance on the Ricki Lake Show.

Chicagostuds.com is an innovative approach to capitalizing on who you are. Cy Townsend is a prime example of success. She is having fun "Living loudly".
